2010 Jackson Star Series Review By Leif Embertson

Holy smokes Batman, Jackson did it once again. Just when I thought the Star series couldn’t be improved EJ pulls another rabbit out of the hat with this design. The 2010 Star series builds upon the previous Star design but add makes some great changes that include shortening the boat, increasing the volume distribution in and around cockpit, tweaking the hull design, and modifying the foot pumps all which take a great performer and make it even better.

I recently got a chance to paddle the 2010 MonStar and the 2009 Super Star at Skookumchuck and the difference was remarkable. The 2010 Star series was looser, faster and had significantly more pop than the 2009 design and still maintains all the great outfitting that make this boat comfortable for a 6’5” 205 lbs galute of a paddler. Jackson also added one more size to the Star series with the MonStar.

On the flipside if you prefer taking your playboat downriver, and doing more old school play on eddylines and keeping the boat vertical you may prefer the 2009 design. But if you are wanting a playboat to help with make the new school aerial maneuvers even easier and accompany you on the rodeo circuit I’d recommend you give the 2010 Star a whirl. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
