So far this antix is awesome! I haven't had the chance to get into bigger water yet, all our rivers are low now. It rolls super easy, has a good edge, but also it's forgiving and not too catchy. The outfitting is pretty good and super easy to adjust. It's pretty light for the portage or carry to put in/take out, which is nice.
Great boat, even for a beginner hard boater
What I like about this boat is it carves nicely in the water, turns fast, and has excellent stability for its size. It also handles class 2-3 rapids very well (I haven't done class 4 or above so can't comment, but from what I've read, people say similar things about turning fast and boofing). I am 5'10" and about 185 lbs and the medium Antix works great. I can pack this thing in my small car with the seats down! A rack or large vehicle is nice to have, but not necessary with this boat. I have kayaked with my inflatable kayak on upper class 3 rapids, and I was looking for a nice hard boat to transition to for a beginner hard boater like myself. I was debating the Antix or the Jackson Kayak Zen, but went with the Antix. I absolutely love this boat. Only cons really are the size (not meant for doing river expeditions, but I wasn't looking for something like that). The Antix has small storage space, and this boat sits low in the water, which may be plus, just depends on what you are looking for. Also, it is squirrely at times, but I'm a beginner whitewater hard boater currently running class 2/3 rapids so I'm up for the challenge. I tested a few hard boats and decided on this one. I have no regrets with my purchase. Overall a very solid boat, even for the beginning whitewater kayaker.
This boat is epic
I come from a background in Creeking, with a bit of playboating as well. This boat is just awesome at creeking, small enough to get some tricks in if you really crank it, and can surf like a champ. Clearly if your looking to bust out consecutive mcnasties or kickflips, a rockstar might be your choice, but for everything else this boat is on point. Just make sure you can fit in it, cause it is very low volume and narrow. But if you can prepare for a savage vessel.
The best Grand Canyon boat ever!!!!
I just spent 25 days kayaking the Grand Canyon in my Antix. This boat was so much fun in the canyon. Super comfy, surfed great, squirted all the eddy lines and ran the rapids with ease. This thing really likes big water. It is the perfect combo of speed and play to make all parts of the canyon super fun.
It's like a F-1 Racecar
I gotta say this boat is better than I would have imagined. Not as "playful" as Team Jackson would lead you to believe with their videos, but that's true with all their playboats. Just cause Stephen Wright can throw enormous loops doesn't mean buying a rockstar will automatically give you the huge air. But back to the Antix. Downriver the thing is a beast, so fast, so precise and stable, goes exactly where you want it to and can take the hardest lines down any class 4 you can throw at it. Getting the stern up (I have a medium and am on the heavy side for it) takes a bit of practice but then is as easy as pie. It surfs like a dream, catching super fast waves you didn't think possible. It attains like a dream...Did I say it was like a Formula 1 race car? Cause thats the best analogy. Amazing boat!!!
