Description

Clifton Hypalon Shore Adhesive Pint is a one-part glue for Hypalon, Pennel Orca, neoprene, and other synthetic rubber materials.

3.5 ounces should cover 1-sq. ft. of the patch (both surfaces), with the recommended 3 thin coats.

Repair Conditions

Ideal boat repair conditions include temperatures higher than 60 degrees Farenheight and lower than 50% humidity. Avoid humidity above 70% as it can compromise the repair job.

Preparation

  1. Cut a rounded patch that extends 2” in all directions from the whole. Rounded edges minimize the chances of a snagged corner.
  2. Trace the patch on the damaged surface with a pencil.
  3. Using fine sandpaper (150-180 grit), lightly buff the two surfaces that need to be glued together. The backside of the patch and the area around the damaged material. Do not buff down to the threads, the objective to remove any glossy texture and create a surface the glue can better grab.
  4. Using a clean lint-free towel, apply Toluene to both surfaces to ensure a good glue bond. Allow two minutes to let the Toluene evaporate before applying the adhesive. (If Toluene is unavailable, you can use acetone or rubbing alcohol)

Adhesive Application

  1. Apply one even coat of adhesive to both dry surfaces. Wait 10-30 minutes until the first coat is tacky. Use the “knuckle test” to determine timing. Touch your knuckle to the glue, you should make a dent in the adhesive without it sticking to your skin or peeling off the applied surface.
  2. Apply a second thin coat of glue. Wait 10-20 minutes and use the “knuckle test” again to gauge the condition of the adhesive.
  3. Once the second coat is tacky press the two surfaces together and apply pressure with a roller. Rolling outwards from the center to eliminate air bubbles and bond the surfaces.
  4. Use a lint-free towel damp with Toluene to eliminate excess glue.
  5. Allow at least 24 hours before inflating the chamber.
