Walking around CKS PaddleFest is like a who’s who of kayaking. Here in the Colorado Kayak Supply shop reps from every kayak accessory company share stories of their new proud product innovations. Woody, a partner and master marketer for Liquid Logic, has been part of the industry since before I began over 20 years ago. Then Woody was touring in the Perception RV. Now Woody’s ease of conversation serves Asheville’s top kayak manufacturer Liquid Logic.
“I think it may be best described as an opportunity for beginners and intermediates to get great instruction. What’s really great is that Colorado Kayak Supply chose and took it on to offer this industry need. I wish there were four of these annually across the nation.” Woody answers with a cup of coffee in hand and two listeners standing by.
“What next? Ask me something and I’ll tell you.” Woody laughs and I continue with the next question. “OK… tell me why you’re here and what Colorado Kayak Supply has going on.”
“That’s easy. There are few places, virtually none, where you can walk out the door to park and play boating. Colorado has always been a destination for great kayaking. There are tons of creeks and the Ark Valley is as good as it gets for river running and play boating. Location. Location. Location. Buena Vista has it… a quality kayak experience right out the door. And BV is the forefront of whitewater parks with the best of the best. Now, folks are getting off from work and hitting up a two hour kayak sesh in the downtown hole.” -Woody Calloway
“OK, what should we be looking for from Liquid Logic?”
Woody smirks, “I’m glad you asked… the Freeride is laying the charge in cross-over kayaking. We heard a demand for freestyle kayaks that were comfortable.“ (Woody begins un-velcroing easy access cushioned hip pads)
“Oh, and check this out… you know how you can never get shit in behind your seat (Woody swivel pivots the plastic ratchet back band high above the seat opening a pathway for dry bags or boxes) now you can. It’s comfy. I mean really comfortable. It'd be a shame to be in a boat and have to worry about your feet falling to sleep. At this point in the industry we’re past that, boats have better outfitting and are more comfortable for full day runs.”
Woody on Black Ops
I’ll be honest I just thought Black Ops was a cool name until I saw a black and green Freeride and Woody tell Lisa from the CKS store to check out the pink “Black Ops” version. At that moment I realized “Black Ops” is actually black + another color option.
Black Ops is a super cool name and the colors work. I give it a “like.”
