Whitewater Grand Prix Update - Dane Jackson Wins!

UPDATE

For the second year in the row, Dane Jackson has won the Whitewater Grand Prix. Are we surprised by this? NO. Dane's been in a kayak since he could walk, and has been styling class V before he learned Algebra. Yes, it's in the genes, Dane's a Jackson, and that's what Jackson's do - they kayak really well. They mold and sell the best kayaks out there, they compete in the Olympics (EJ competed in Barcelona in 1992), they have tireless work ethics, and are better than everyone else at whitewater kayaking. Congrats Dane - you deserve it. More info on the Women's division as well as the rest of the men's field coming soon.

Stage 4

Stage 4 consisted of Big Water Boatercross in Inferno Canyon on the Futaleufu River in Patagonia, Chile. Rush Sturges summed it up pretty well - "It's chaos in there, it's anyone's game". The video is really well done, showing the awe inspiring natural beauty of Chile, as well as some hectic racing action. 2012 Chile Whitewater Grand Prix - Stage Four - BoaterCross from Tribe Rider on Vimeo. Dane Jackson (USA) took first in the men's division and Katrina Van Wijk (CAN) took first in the women's. Dane Jackson now leads the overall men's division by a slim margin, followed closely by Eric Deguil (FRA), Isaac Levinson (USA) and Evan Garcia (USA). Nouria Newman (FRA) continues to lead the women's division followed by Martina Wegman (NLD) and Katrina Van Wijk (CAN). The final stage of the event will be held on Today, Friday, December14. In the Big Water Boatercross paddlers raced against each other in sets of 5 in multiple heats on the legendary Rio Futaleufu (think roller derby meets Motocross but held on some of the most challenging whitewater on the planet). Flows during the race were near 15,000 cubic feet per second (CFS). *Stage Four Results* Women: 1st Place: Katrina Van Wijk (CAN) 2nd Place: Martina Wegman (NLD) 3rd Place: Nouria Newman (FRA) 4th Place: Lu Urwin (NZL) 5th Place: Nicole Mansfield (USA) 6th Place: Natalie Anderson (USA) 7th Place: Louise Jull (NZL) Men: 1st Place: Dane Jackson (USA) 2nd Place: Eric Deguil (FRA) 3rd Place: Adrian Kiernan (AUS) 4th Place: Evan Garcia (USA) 5th Place: Isaac Levinson (USA) 6th Place: Todd Wells (USA) 7th Place: Anton Immler (SWE) 8th Place: Michele Ramazza (ITA) 9th Place: Galen Volckhausen (USA) 10th Place: Marcos Gallegos (CHL) 11th Place: Momo Castillo (CHL) 12th Place: Geoff Calhoun (USA) 13th Place: Joel Kowalski (CAN) 14th Place: Lorenzo Andrade Astorga (CHL) 15th Place: Jakub Nemec (CZE) 16th Place: Jared Seiler (USA) 17th Place: Ben Marr (CAN) 18th Place: Dag Sandvik (NOR) 19th Place: Rafa Ortiz (MEX) 20th Place: Fred Norquist (USA) 21st Place: Rush Sturges (USA) 22nd Place: Daniel Rondón (PER)

Stage 3

Eric Deguil and Dane Jackson are tied for first place overall. Here's a great video that summarizes what the Whitewater Grand Prix is all about. It also shows a lot of action from stage 3, and gives the race standings. 2012 Whitewater Grand Prix - Stage Three - Whitewater Sprint from Tribe Rider on Vimeo.
