Jackson Kayak Super Hero Review
Well Jackson did it again with the Super Hero! This boat rocks and is comfortable to boot.
First before I begin my specs; height 6’5”; 205lbs of Norwegian heritage; size 11 kickers; with a strong preference towards river running and creeking. Having paddled the Mega Rocker for 3 three years I was a little skeptical of the Super Hero design but after moving to the PacNW last year I decided to switch and having been really enjoying how it performs.
The hull and chines on the Super Hero allow it to track and ferry in fast, pushy, and complex currents and the deck profile lets the bow resurface smoothly and predictably. I also really like how well the hull chines let the boat carve into and out of eddies and how the shorter stern length (compared to the Mega) makes it easier to boof and keep the bow up. Add up those performance characteristics with Jackson’s quick, easy and super comfortable outfitting and you’ve got real winner of a boat.
I’ve been using the Super Hero as my primary creeker but if you’re used to a displacement hull creeker expect it perform and react differently especially on steep continuous creeks and if you primarily run a lot of waterfall s or steep mank you’ll probably be happier with the Rocker series.
The Super Hero excels in high water runs (think Gore, North Fork Payette, etc) and river running.
