Great durable design
I had recently picked up an Odachi and have thoroughly enjoyed using it. The only drawback was the worry of its durability due to the lightweight design. I purchased a Surge as soon as I could and I highly recommend it. I love the designs with the blade offset, I think that the catch feels better and in general they are smooth and crisp. The Surge is not as forward stroke oriented as the Odachi, the blade shape is more creeker but it still feels great and the difference is minor. Since this is fiberglass I am much more comfortable taking it on anything including places I know a paddle could take a beating and I don't have to worry. All in all the paddle is my new go-to, I have had no issues getting used to the offset with my roll or any other area. Highly recommend this paddle.
This is the best paddle I've ever used. Great customer service & quick shipping. Loving it. Thanks guys
Smooth and powerful
I have been using a Werner Sherpa for the past 9 years so that's the only thing I can compare the Surge to. There's no doubt the Surge gives me a lot more power in my strokes. I really like on smaller more technical runs where I can make quick corrections and boof strokes are more important. The Surge works great for that type of paddling. I was also surprised by how smooth and easy it was on my shoulders considering the larger blades. I have issues with my right shoulder but this paddle feels just as good as my smaller blade Sherpa did. I have about the same minimal amount of shoulder pain after a long day of paddling as I did with the Sherpa. Sometimes it even feels a little better. Very happy with the new design so far.
